Getting Here

Location and getting here….Located half way between the mainland and Vancouver Island, Mayne Island is easily reached via BC Ferries from the Tsawwassen terminal on the mainland or from Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island. Travelers can arrive by car, bicycle or as a foot passenger. These ferries are large and provide meals within their cafeteria. From the ferry terminal at Village Bay, it is about a 25-minute walk to Miners Bay. If traveling by car, reservations are recommended in the summer as sometime the ferries are booked to capacity. Make sure you clearly indicate your destination as “Village Bay, Mayne Island, as other ferries travel to different islands. There are only two sailings per day, one in the morning, and the other in the evening.

Please call BC Ferries at (888) 223-3779 for reservations or more information visit their web site at http://www.bcferries.com/schedules/southern/

Float Plane service…For those who are short of time, float plane service is available from the water near the Bayshore Inn close to downtown Vancouver, or from the South terminal at Vancouver airport, or from Victoria. These fly on a scheduled basis to Mayne Island or can be chartered. If you’ve never flown on a floatplane, you’ll find it an awesome experience! It’s easy to arrive in the morning, fish all day and return in the late afternoon. We can’t always guarantee a salmon, but we always guarantee a great time!

Other Islands

If you decide to stay for a while, you might want to travel to some of the other Gulf islands to explore and visit. It’s easy! There are smaller inter-island ferries that can carry automobiles and bicycles as well as foot passengers. Make sure you check BC Ferries schedules so that you have plenty of time to return to Mayne Island, the best of them all!
