Salmon Fishing in the Gulf Islands

”Experience the thrill of fighting the mighty Pacific salmon! No other fish species is respected and prized as the Chinook salmon. When landed over 30 lbs they are called Tyee! They are fierce, powerful fighters that make long, reel-screaming runs, as well being famous for their delicious flavour on the dinner table!

As well as salmon you can catch tasty bottom fish in the calm waters of Active Pass and the surrounding waters of the beautiful Gulf Islands. All rods and reels are provided.

Your boat is a custom outfitted 24ft Wellcraft, complete with walk Around cabin and head. (toilet for you land lumbers)! For accurate and safe navigation, the boat is equipped with two depth sounders, GPS, loran, radar, VHF and ham radio. Your skipper has over 50 years of fishing experience and 25 years experience fishing local waters. Enjoying comfort, excitement and having fun is our purpose.

"Sight Seeing Only?"
Don't want to go fishing...no problem. Lets' go for a great sight seeing boat ride.

Experience nature's bountiful beauty. You are amongst seals, sea lions, eagles, sea birds by the thousands, playful otters, and sometimes even killer whales! Rocky, isolated islets provide great scenery and safe roosting havens for a multitude of noisy, but beautiful sea birds. This is a true photographer's paradise.

Active Pass fishing….You are fishing waters literally at our doorstep only minutes from the dock. The pass is located between Galiano Island and Mayne Island and is protected from all directions from the elements. The waters are always calm. We fish extremely close to the scenic shoreline where large salmon prefer to lie in wait searching for bait fish.

This is “civilized” fishing in comfort as an all day booking can be split into two parts. After a morning trip, we can return to island for a meal break or refreshments at the Springwater Lodge, which has a spectacular view of Active Pass from their spacious deck, or a rest back at the B&B. Both the lodge and the B&B is close to the dock, so no car is required to get there. The afternoon can be scheduled for the remainder of the day for fishing.

Pollier Pass fishing….Pollier Pass is located between the top end of Galiano Island and Valdez Island, which is about a 45 minute run from the dock in Active Pass. The route passes a scenic shoreline and an isolated rookery where sea birds have nested since life on earth was created! It thrives with many different species of birds today, and is a pleasure to see if one is interested in birds or photography.

Although there are cottages and some houses along the island shoreline, there are no facilities available for food or fuel, or places to go ashore. This is a semi-isolated area. Once we leave the dock, we must bring our own food, ice, drinks, sufficient fuel and all equipment. And lots of sunscreen protection!

The fishing conditions are classic. No crowds and only a few boats with again, great scenery and lots of sea life to observe. The waters are protected and calm as we drift over underwater ledges and valleys, along kelp beds and within swirling back eddies.

If desired, we can take a break in a small cove and cook up a catch of fresh, delicious bottom fish or salmon. Nothing can be more fresh or delicious! Surely, this is what life is all about!
