IT’S NOT FAR TO EXPERIENCE A DIFFERENT
WORLD!
| It’s true…Mayne
Island is a different world, and it is
only a 90-minute, pleasant ferry ride from the mainland,
just south of Vancouver.
On the winding, forest lined roads, there
is very little traffic, but one has to be careful to avoid
the deer that come out of the forest to wander and feed
along the side of the road.

Killer whales in Active Pass |
| It is different!
Instead of being surrounded by crowds, noise, cars, traffic
and tall buildings; you will be surrounded by nature’s
tranquility and beauty. A visit to Mayne Island and to our
B&B is to experience a quiet and peaceful “escape”
from the hectic pace of city life. Yes, nature
is on our menu, and is plentiful.

|
Springwater Lodge sun deck (next door) |
| Our B&B is
ideally located overlooking Active Pass,
close to amenities such as a bakery, grocery store, liquor
outlet, etc. and is only a 2 minute walk to the historic
Springwater Lodge,
where you can enjoy refreshments or an excellent meal while
viewing the marine activities and wildlife of Miners
Bay from their spacious sun deck.
Yet, our B&B is quiet and private. It
is more than just a B&B, as it is an entire, self-contained
private suite!

Sitting room in B&B |
| But there are
many activities for those who are energetic
and looking for things to do! Digging in an uncrowded, secluded
beach for oysters or clams, (delicious on the barbeque)
or peering into a tidal pool is fascinating and fun, especially
for kids…..of all ages!

David’s Cove, a great place for a
picnic and a safe place for kids to explore |
| Bicycling
or just walking is an ideal way to see the island as the
curving, forest lined roads and moderate hills provide a
pleasant and scenic background, while often eagles screech
in the treetops directly above to their mates and young.

 |
Top of Mount Park (a 45 minute hike) |
| Hiking
the many forest trails is another way to get even closer
to nature. The silence of a forest makes us appreciate our
own physical and spiritual awareness.
There are many other activities to enjoy,
such as visiting a farm, (kids love it), dining at one of
the pubs or restaurants, shopping
for exquisite art carvings, paintings by local artists,
or visiting the glass works, the lighthouse, fishing, marine
sight seeing….and more!

|
| And don’t
forget the opportunity to view marine
wildlife close up. Thousands of sea birds
are at our doorstep, as well as seals, playful otters, eagles,
and a multitude of diving ducks. You will never forget the
experience of hearing and actually smelling the breath of
a killer whale as it lifts itself from the water to view
its’ surroundings.
